SITE OF SERVICE:
Twenty Nine Palms Naval Base
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree: Certificate
· Education: Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP
· Certification: Certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
· Experience: One year of experience as a sonographer or in the specialty area
· Cardiac Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
· U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
· English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
· Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services.
CORE DUTIES:
· Correlate the patient's clinical history with the requested examination to be performed and obtain the results from previous pertinent diagnostic tests to correlate with the ultrasound study.
· Consult with staff physicians from a variety of specialties such as obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology and surgery regarding the patient's pertinent past medical history, preliminary diagnosis, and condition so it correlates with the ultrasound examination.
· Recognize normal anatomic variants. Also, recognize anatomic changes created by medical and surgical procedures. Exhibit 5, Version 1.0 (4 Oct 22) Document arrival, departure, and completed tests as required by MTF policy.
· Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.
· Perform system warm ups, calibrations and quality control tasks according to manufacturer and MTF policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
· Explain process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position
· for examination.
· Assist in the compiling and archiving of records for procedures performed
· Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention.
· Recognize the need for and initiate emergency measures for critical situations such as respiratory or cardiac arrest.
· Identify abnormalities during testing and determine need for additional scans of affected area.
· Perform a full range of diagnostic ultrasonic examinations as appropriate to the discipline.
HOURS:
On Call Services. The contractor shall provide on-call services weekdays, weekends, and the day of observance of Federal holidays. Weekday on-call services will begin at 1730 until 0700 the following morning. Weekend on-call services will be for a 24 hour period between the hours of 0700 – 0700 Saturdays, Sundays
ORIENTATION:
Employee shall comply with the requirements for orientation. Orientation will be conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 to 1630. Each HCW will undergo a maximum of 40 hours or one week of orientation. During this period, the HCW will perform under the observation of a Government Ultrasound Technologist for the purpose of becoming familiar with MTF equipment and protocols prior to performance of on-call services. Orientation is priced separately.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
