SITE OF SERVICE:

·       Luke AFB, AZ

·       Part Time Position

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

·       Degree: Doctor of Medical in Dentistry (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

·       Education: Graduate from an accredited dental school approved by the Commission on Dental

·       Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA). Specialty Dentist must be a graduate of a dental specialty training program that is accredited by the CODA of the ADA or an accepted equivalent program.

·       Certification: Board eligible or board certified as required.

·       Additional Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

·       Internship/Residency: Specialty Dentist: Completed a clinical post-doctoral program approved by the ADA.

·       Experience:

o  Shall have one (1) year of experience performing clinical dentistry out of the last 18 months.

o  Shall have been employed for at least one (1) year on a full time basis in the practice of dentistry, or be a recent (1-year) graduate of an accredited, post-graduate dentistry training program. Dental specialists shall have a certificate of training in their specialty area from an ADA-accredited residency training program.

·       Licensure: Must have the following:

o  Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a Dentist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Island.

o  Possess a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number in order to write prescriptions for controlled substances.

·       U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

·       English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

·       Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·       Performs a full range of professional dental tasks including treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative or preventive measures such as single and multiple teeth extractions, restoration of simple and compound cavities with standard and prescribed material, taking mouth impressions for crowns, jackets, dentures and bridges and fitting and inserting the finished appliances.

·       Ensures correct patient identification through the use of at least two unique patient identifiers and perform site verification, as required. Enters workload production data into reporting system.

·       Dental practice, management of patients, and dental prescriptions will be accomplished in accordance with applicable AFMS clinical practice guidelines and JCAHO/HSI standards and instructions set forth in facility where privileges are awarded.

·       Examines, diagnoses and treats disease, abnormalities, injuries and dysfunctional disorders of the oral cavity and its associated structures.

HOURS:

·       0700-1730 not to exceed 40 hour per week. There will also be available on-call hours on this contract.

BASE DOWN DAYS:

·       During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty). 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
