Hybrid/Corporate Office, Rockledge, FL.
FLSA: Salary Exempt
 
JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for various functions in the areas of general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, including cash receipts, AP invoice coding, journal entries, reporting, fixed assets, general ledger reconciliations, and accounting policy development. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Education: Bachelor degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Experience: Four or more years of related experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Proficient in accounting software and banking systems.
  • Experience with various accounting systems and integration tools is a plus.
  • Working toward CPA certification is a plus.
  • Experience preparing state tax returns and responding to state audit requests is a plus.
  • Experience with Unanet is a plus.
  • Government contracts accounting and accounts receivable experience is a plus.
GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Monitors proper allocation of cash receipts to general ledger daily and investigates and resolves variances.
  • Responsible for completing vendor expense analysis monthly.
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries and reconciles complex balance sheet accounts.
  • Provides some oversight of accounting staff.
  • Complete tax research as needed.
CORE DUTIES/ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Assists in adoption of new accounting standards including but not limited to researching standard, preparing written accounting policy for company, and preparing new disclosures.
  • Maintains and/or develops monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis. 
  • Supports policy development and offers advice regarding accounting and internal control issues, reporting needs, and policy review and changes.
  • Assists with annual external audits and state and bank audits.
  • Assists with other accounting tasks, analysis and project responsibilities as assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects.  Flexible and able to work with various personalities.  Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
