SITE OF SERVICE:
· NBHC Gulfport, MS.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree:
o Physician Assistant- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
o Nurse Practitioner- Master’s degree in Nursing
· Education:
o Physician Assistant- Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the
Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
o Nurse Practitioner- Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Certification:
o Physician Assistant- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA).
o Nurse Practitioner- ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
o Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
o American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
o Recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Exhibit 5-52, Version 1.4 (26 Apr 18) Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
· Experience: Experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in a family practice setting of at least 12 months within the preceding 24 months years
· Additional Certifications:
o Possess current Basic Life Saver (BLS) hands on certification through the AHA.
o Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
· Licensure:
o Physician Assistant- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant
o Nurse Practitioner- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse
· U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
· English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
· HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
CORE DUTIES:
· Provide a full range of Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
· Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
· Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
· Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
· Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.
· Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
· Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.
· Establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and others in order to promote and facilitate primary care services.
· Teach patients and family member's healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
· Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
HOURS:
· Services shall normally be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600 and 1800 for a 9-hour period, including an uncompensated 1-hour meal break.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
