MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK
SITE OF SERVICE:
· Fort Bliss Detention Center, El Paso, TX
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
· Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last two years working as a full-time employee of a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office where at least 50% of the duties was specifically focused on the management of medical records.
· U.S. Citizenship: Shall be U.S. citizens.
· English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate. **Bilingual preferred
· Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required.
DUTIES:
- Create and maintain medical records, general files, logs and other related records and documents in an organized manner, to include sorting, labeling, filing and retrieving, in accordance with corporate and facility file retention and storage procedures; and maintains confidentiality and security of records.
- Maintain a current inventory of clinic supplies; monitor compliance with sign in/out logs; prepare inventory reports as required.
- Monitor outside referrals and coordinates transfer of medical records.
- Assist in the preparation of routine medical and dental reports.
- Read and comprehend medical instructions and procedures, correspondence, policies, regulations, reports, directions for forms completion and other simple or moderately complex documents.
HOURS:
· Shifts are scheduled for 8 hours per day
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
